Frequently Asked Questions

Opening

In 2021, we are planning to open the campsite from the 12th of May until the 26th of September.
(Should circumstances oblige us to deviate from this, you will read this here in due time.)
Outside the opening period, we cannot be contacted by phone, only by e-mail.

Due to the ongoing COVID19 crisis, advance reservations are mandatory.

Private bathrooms

Since 2020 we only have camping pitches and glamping accommodation with private bathroom. We do not have communal sanitary facilities.

If you are traveling with a camper and you have your own toilet and bathroom on board, there are limited places without access to sanitary facilities. You can mention this in the comments when making a reservation.

Booking

* You can make a reservation via the reservation form on the website.
After checking the availability and accepting your reservation, we will send you a booking confirmation as soon as possible. You will also find all the information you need for payment on this booking confirmation.

* Reservations are always required for the Glamping tents, the Roulotte and the Cottage.
Reservation is also required for the camping pitches. Since 2020, we only have camping pitches with private bathroom.

* For the camping pitches with private bathroom and for the rental of Glampings, a minimum of 2 nights applies, in the special weekends 3 or 4 nights. If you camp with an autonomous camping vehicle, you can also book for 1 night in the low season.

In the low season you do not pay any reservation costs for a camping pitch.

* The jacuzzi and wellness area will remain closed this year.

Groups, large families and multiple families together

* Although we regularly receive this request, l’Escargot is NOT suitable for larger groups. Due to the peaceful and even quiet nature of our campsite, we do not accept groups or multiple families together. (Not even if they have booked separately.)
* On the other hand, this means that – if you are looking for a really quiet place (alone, as a couple or with your family) – you will be sure of it you will find it here.

Payment

After receiving your booking confirmation you can proceed to payment, this will make your reservation  final. We ask you a deposit of 30% upon receipt of the confirmation. The balance of 70% must be paid ultimately 1 month before arrival. For reservations less than a month before your arrival date, you will be charged the full amount after receipt of the booking confirmation.
If you prefer, you can also ask us for payment through our PayPal account. Please let us know by e-mail.

* We do not have a Bancontact / ATM, so it is not possible to pay on site with debit or credit card.

Pets

* If you camp with your own camping equipment, you can bring your pet (€ 5 per night), provided it is on a leash and walked outside the campsite. If you have 2 dogs, this is possible in some cases (on request).

* Pets are not allowed in the Glamping accommodations.

Cancelling

* After payment your reservation is final. We do not make any refunds in case of cancellation. (Except in certain circumstances, f.e. if we need to close down because of Covid19 and have to cancel/postpone your booking because of this)
Cancellation insurance can sometimes also offer a solution. We would like to refer you to your insurance broker for this.

Breakfast and other practical info for your stay

* You can order delicious sandwiches, croissants and other treats that will be delivered to your tent or caravan the next morning. This service applies daily in high season, except on Mondays. In the low season, the baker only comes on Saturday and Sunday. You can place your order until 17:00 the night before.
The ultimate indulgence: order an extensive room service breakfast!

* Every Glamping tent, roulotte or cottage has a BBQ that you can use. We also have a number of BBQs available for our camping guests. You must bring charcoal for this yourself.

* Campfire is not allowed on l’Escargot.

* Your camping pitch is very spacious, so your car fits on it too!
If you prefer to keep it out of sight, there are always a few parking spaces (inside the gate) available.

* The entrance gate to the site is closed from 22:00 to 08:00.

Seasonal or annual pitches

* There are no seasonal or annual pitches on l’Escargot

GPS or directions?

* If you are traveling with a camper / caravan or folding trailer, it is a good idea to follow our directions instead of your navigation system. You can find this on the contact page. That saves you a steep climb / sharp turns and narrow passages at the end of the trip. (Always beneficial for the stressfactor!)
